As a man thinketh so is he (Proverbs 23:7)
Are you focused on the Word of God, or has fear consumed you?
In order for us to be conquerors, we must first become Giants in the areas of our lives where we’ve been given a vision, a goal, a dream or a calling. God has given each of us the heart of a Giant. Much like a good earthly father wants his children to be champions in whatever they undertake, our Heavenly Father desires that we, His children win in the game of life. The mind of a Giant is fearless! It is always moving forward and never backing down, refusing to accept defeat. The Giant always, finds a way, doesn’t, find an excuse.
Giants face reality, forget the past, and forge into the future. However, we live in a fallen world, and the Christian race is filled with difficulties and discouragement, as Giants in our Christian lives we need to develop a proper perspective. So what is the proper mindset for a Giant committed to the glory of God? These are characteristics of Giants;
Giants have the heart of a Giant
The heart of a true Giant knows that God is His strength and empowers him/her to even greater victories. The heart of a Giant is someone who rises above ordinary to do the extraordinary, someone who knows right from wrong, has renewed his/her mind with the Word of God is positioned to make life-changing, destiny-shaping decisions. A Giant must know that he will do the right thing when the time comes.
As a Giants you have to confront your fears. By confronting your fears you will be free from them. Confront your insecurities, your jealousies, anything that will break your focus on what’s important, confront whatever you’re afraid of. Giants overcome their fears by and through the Word of God.
Joshua 8:1 says: “And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up”
Fear is the devil’s anointing and it has no place in the life of a Giant.
Giants Refuse to Get distracted & focus on the Goal – Finish Line
We get distracted by our culture, music, hobbies, work, businesses and the internet, to name a few. We get distracted by the flesh, be it temptation or selfish pursuits. All believers are called to pursue the prize, Christ-likeness. What are some of the ways we can employ to ensure we do not get distracted?
Daily Devotion to God
Discipline in focusing on God
Diligence in pursuing God
In Ephesians 5:1, Paul urged the believers, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.” Simply put, Paul wants us to be attracted to and follow Jesus example. We are to pursue holiness; quest for the heavenly prize, we are to long for God and God alone. As Christian Giants we must not only refuse to get distracted but also remember the finish line. We must also flee from ungodly influence. There are three enemy that may make us not be on the finish line:
When you set your Mind on earthly things -Col. 3:5-9
When you glorify yourself
When you desire the ungodly & its sensual pleasure
People who are consumed by above three refuse to think with an eternal perspective. They live for pleasure instead of purity and repudiates what is eternal. They refuse to believe that Christ alone is sufficient for salvation. On Judgment Day, we want to be able to say the words found in 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good (worthy, honorable, and noble) fight, I have finished the race, I have kept (firmly held) the faith.”
Some of you have yet to enter the Christian Giant race. If you are not a runner in the Giant race, the Bible calls you an enemy of the cross. You are on the losing team. You need to cry out to God to have mercy on you as you enter the Christian Giant race, then and only then will you truly have the mindset of a Giant.
